Located nearly in the center of the Chesapeake Bay, Tilghman Island is “a working watermen’s village and home to the last commercial sailing fleet in North America, the skipjacks.” Lucian Niemeyer photographed this scene for his book “Chesapeake Country.” He granted me permission to paint it.
