The reference image for this painting was taken from the YouTube film “Beautiful Swimmers Revisited (2019)” by Tom Horton, Dave Harp, and Sandy Cannon-Brown. I requested and was granted permission for its unrestricted use. All of the buildings are on Smith Island in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay. The entire island is threatened with flooding caused by climate change.
