The Fog Has Lifted

Original Watercolor, 15″ x 22″

Heceta Head is the most photographed lighthouse in the United States. It is 150 feet above the sea on the Pacific coast, 11 miles north of Florence, Oregon. The Heceta Head lighthouse began operation in 1894. It is equipped with a First Order Fresnel Lens manufactured by Chance Brothers in England. The lens has 8 panels with 640 prisms each measuring 2 inches thick. The progress of this painting is the subject of Section 6.0 A Work In Progress in my book “Watercolor Pocket Guide.”
