Portland Head Lighthouse

Original watercolor & gouache, 15″ x 22″

This is the oldest lighthouse in Maine. . . completed in 1791 at the direction of George Washington. It sits on a headland at the Portland harbor entrance. A fourth-order Fresnel lens was installed in 1855. In 1991, that lens was replaced with a DCB-224 aerobeacon which is still in use.
