Original Watercolor, 9″ x 12″
My sister Kathy lives in Florida and is an avid bird watcher. On one of my visits, she took me to the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge which is near Cape Canaveral. It is the migratory home to thousands of birds. This is a drake in breeding plumage with its white facial crescent and gray-blue head. These ducks are small, swift and dart in flight. Hundreds can be seen together circling in the air above the marsh. I’ve been back to Merritt Island a couple of times since.
